Just over a week ago, we were contacted by a woman who had been living in her car for 4 months.   Prior to this, she was living with her brother who passed away unexpectedly and she was forced to leave the home.   With minimal funds coming in from social security, she decided to live in her car throughout the summer.   The cold weather and a diagnosis of pneumonia forced her to call out for help.  Love INC and SVDP have helped with gas and food cards, and told her about our community meals program.  She had found another place to live and fortunately, the landlord lowered the rent for her, but the money she received was spent on food and gas to stay warm.  Together with our help and that of SVDP, she was able to move into her new home this week.  She has a reliable car and hopes to begin working for Lyft within a few days.
